Application Procedure

 

This section explains the process for applying to the Universities in UK.

Intake

 

Main intake offered by universities is September/ October. Few Universities offer January / February Intake also. Some Colleges offer MBA & PG Diploma in Hospitality Management all throughout the year.

 

Eligibility

 

Undergraduate
  • 60% and above for humanities in XII/Diploma.
  • 70-80% and above for Science, Commerce, engg in Std. XII/Diploma.
  • 2nd class could also be considered by some universities if there is some additional qualification / experience.
  • Completed / will complete 18 years of age before joining a degree program.
  • All Applications are made online through UCAS.
  • IELTS Score of 6.0 Band or TOEFL Score of 223 are required by most UK Universities.

Postgraduate
  • 55-60% and above in bachelor’s degree.
  • GMAT scores (500-650) for some management programs.
  • Freshers or Full time work experience of at least 1-3 yrs in few Management related courses.
  • IELTS Score of 6.5 Band or TOEFL Score of 237 are required by most UK Universities.

Curriculum Vitae

 

A Curriculum Vitae is a personal summary of your professional history and qualifications. It should mainly focus on your educational and academic backgrounds as well as any work or research experience, publications, presentations, awards, honors, affiliations and other details.

Academic Records

 

Full details of your education including your course subjects and grades are required in the applications. Transcripts or official records of your previous academic qualifications are crucial for your application.

If the originals are not in English, copies and a good English translation must be enclosed. If your undergraduate qualification or university is unknown to the admissions tutor, the British Council would be able to advise.

 

 

IELTS / TOEFL Score

 

IELTS : International English Language Testing System.
IELTS tests the complete range of English language skills. Accepted by most foreign corporate & govt. bodies. Even the immigrants are required to give this exam to be eligible for immigration.
Exam Pattern : Candidates are tested in Listening, Reading, Writing & Speaking and need to score 6.0 to 7.0 in bands ranging from 0 to 9.

TOEFL : Test of English as a Foreign Language.
TOEFL is the primary computer based test for English aptitude at any level for foreign Universities.
Exam Pattern : Candidates are tested in Listening, Reading, Writing & Structure and need to score minimum 213 out of 300.

If you have not appeared for IELTS / TOEFL, you can process your application by submitting the remaining documents. The University may offer you a Conditional offer letter based on the IELTS / TOEFL condition.

 

 

Reference Letters

 

A Reference Letter or a Letter of Recommendation is a signed statement from a person who knows you well professionally or has taught you in a subject that is related to the course you are applying to.

 

The author or teacher must indicate his position, how long he/she has known the applicant and in what capacity. He/she should briefly discuss the need, importance and usefulness of the study the applicant proposes to undertake.

 

It is advisable to include at least two letters of recommendation in your applications as they increase your chances of getting admissions.

 

If you have a prior Work Experience, it is mandatory to include atleast 1 Reference Letter from the previous employer.

Statement Of Purpose

 

A Statement of Purpose is your personal statement about who you are, what has influenced your career path so far, your professional interests and where you plan to go from here. Statement of Purpose/Essays plays a major role in admissions. This is the only thing you can express your goals, achievements impressively to admission committee and faculty members of your area.

 

The 4 most important pieces of information is an SOP are:

 

What you want to study at graduate school.

Why you want to study it.

What experience you have in your field.

What you plan to do with your degree once you have it.
